Prior to opening her own practice, Freed was Assistant General Counsel of Digital Networks at Sony Pictures Entertainment where she was Head of Legal for Crackle, Sony’s multi-platform ad supported video entertainment network, for six years during the emergence of digital media as an industry, and the development of streaming video across mobile and OTT platforms.  Working on the novel business and legal issues surrounding digital media inspired Freed to create the first law school course at Loyola Law School dedicated to digital media, entitled “Digital Media & the Law,” which she has taught for the last nine years.  Eager to tackle the next wave of novel issues, and stemming from her work with current clients related to big data, ad tech and machine learning, Freed co-created and began co-teaching “Artificial Intelligence & the Law” at Loyola Law School three years ago.

Freed has been practicing law for over 15 years, and began her career at Irell & Manella, LLP in the corporate, private equity and intellectual property groups.  She frequently speaks at conferences, bar association events, and law schools, and has been quoted and interviewed by various news outlets and industry podcasts.

Freed is currently the Co-Chair of TechTainment, a media/tech conference, a former board member of the Association of Media and Entertainment Counsel (AMEC) “Women Who Lead,” and former Co-Program Chair of the Entertainment and Intellectual Property Executive Committee of the Los Angeles County Bar Association (LACBA).  Freed received her Juris Doctor from Loyola Law School, and her Bachelor of Arts, magna cum laude, from UCLA.  Freed lives and works in Silicon Beach, where she often conducts client meetings via Stand-Up Paddle Board.
