Sameena Habib is a Senior Attorney and Certified Information Privacy Professional, advising the business on global data privacy and security compliance at Gilead Sciences, Inc. Sameena leads compliance with new privacy and security laws in the Asia Pacific region and globally, including China’s new Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL). She utilizes her 10-year experience in privacy and extensive knowledge of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), and other global privacy and regulatory laws to serve as a subject matter expert on privacy for all departments of Gilead’s pharmaceutical business. Sameena is solution-oriented, collaborative, and a trusted business partner.

Sameena previously served as Senior Corporate Counsel & Director for Data Privacy, Security & Intellectual Property at Panasonic Avionics Corporation (PAC), a Panasonic Corporation company, focused on global in-flight entertainment. As lead privacy attorney, Sameena established and grew a robust legal privacy compliance and counseling program and also provided privacy guidance to Panasonic North America and Panasonic Corporation. She partnered extensively with commercial, marketing, advertising, HR, procurement, IT Security, and other business departments to drive privacy by design and default principles across the company. She drafted digital service agreements and company policies aligned with GDPR, CCPA, the APEC Privacy Framework, and other worldwide data privacy regulations and conducted data privacy trainings for Panasonic business and security departments. Sameena created a privacy champion program, mentored attorneys in data privacy, and led teams to achieve privacy and security compliance across the company.

As intellectual property counsel, Sameena, managed patent and trademark portfolios and provided counsel in commercial agreements and M&A involving intellectual property.
